Ideal Appearance


The media is already influencing people without them even knowing it.
Magazines, television, movies, billboards, etc., are corroded with the image of perfection and beauty. This sends the message to teenage girls that in order to be beautiful, they have to look a certain way, therefore making them go through any extreme to fit the flawless image. Do you think the media puts too much pressure on the average American person?

Censorship



Censorship is the activity of looking carefully at published material and removing parts which are thought to be offensive or, often, politically dangerous. This can be in television shows, book or movies. Many children and young adults today are not exposed to everything they could be in terms of education and entertainment due to the emphasis our society puts on censorship. Should people be able to view or listen to whatever they like or should there be a limit?

Alcohol Advertising


By the time teenagers reach driving age they will have seen 75,000 ads for alcohol (CQ Researcher, 1992). Research clearly indicates that in addition to parents and peers, alcohol advertising and marketing have a significant impact on youth decisions to drink. How do you feel about these public displays?
